I have always loved to read from those early Dick and Jane trainers to the Harvard Classics provided by my parents in later years. Fascination with other cultures and ancient history was nurtured amid the diverse population of Southern California. I love reading and research of a subject is fascinating. I may forget a meal or ignore turning on the lights until the pages can't be seen. As a kid I enjoyed making up stories with my cousin JuneBug. (He will so hunt me down for using that nickname here.) Later I dreamed of being the best selling author on the planet. Then Life happened.
Now the stories I write can reflect what I have learned about being human, the pitfalls and the hope that sustains us all.
In the not too distant future the Earth's corporation giants and surviving governments decide the cleansing of the overpopulated planet is a necessity. In collusion advertising campaigns draw in the desperate, the fanatic and the soldier for the first colonization of an extraterrestrial body. The ships were quickly filled with volunteers, willing . . . or not.
At the end of a long journey, the few military leaders observed the disaster that spun below them. Cold, bombarded and fading, their new home was clearly less than advertised. So the scientist went to work to speed up the process toward occupying the planet.Years later as the ships' occupants disembarked, hungry eyes looked on.

The dangers of war are behind him, but not the memories, the guilt-driven never ending memories.
The fiery liquor offers brief respite, then . . .
the real nightmare begins.
The festering strips burned, the fever sucked him dry. The voice of his father harangued his ears, accusing.
"Traitorous, wretched boy! No son of mine would do such a thing!"
"How could you do this? Did you think of us, you bastard? Do you know what this means?"
The echo of the door slamming against his battered jaw pounded on his ears until he cried out.
The Captain would hear. He would come and the beatings would begin again.
"Quiet, quiet boy. You want to get caught? You want to the mate to strike with that devilish belayin' pin? You want to lay in the fo'c'sle waiting to die from another beating? You want to run up and down and up and down for days and nights without sleep or vittles? You want to live boy?"

Long ago and far away, so many stories tell a child fell off a mountain to the verdant plains below.
He grew to ride Thanatu's steed from northern glaciers blue to the southern warm green waters lapping at land's end.
He raced the winds of the sun kissed western plains and scaled the shadowed eastern mountains of his ire.
Everywhere he tarried red ribbons laced the land and man did tremble in his heart at the deftness of Fate's hand.
